Description
A rare pair of Dutch silver needle guards, with knitting needles. These excellent examples are securely attached together with a sterling silver double curb chain, which can be easily be added to a belt or chatelaine. Each guard is beautifully shaped and decorated with engraving, palm leaves and finished with delightful acorn terminals. The gauge of silver is excellent and guards are presented with a pair of polished steel double ended knitting needles. Both guards are marked with the French Swan hallmark, used for imported items into France from 1893. They are likely to be Dutch in origin and date from the mid to latter part of the 19th Century. A wonderful addition to any sewing collection and still usable today. Dimensions below.
