Antique Victorian Copper Jardinière with Brass Lion Mask Ring Handles, c.1890
A late Victorian rectangular copper jardinière or planter trough dating to circa 1890. The body is hand-formed from sheet copper with a rolled rim and brazed seams, fitted to each end with cast brass lion mask ring handles mounted on shaped backplates.
The long, narrow proportions suggest use as a windowsill or conservatory planter. The copper has developed a natural surface patina with areas of verdigris to the interior and along the seams, consistent with age and use. The brass mounts provide a pleasing contrast against the warm tone of the copper.
A decorative and practical piece suitable for use as a planter, centrepiece, or decorative trough.
Measures 30 cm long, 10.5 cm wide, and 8 cm high.
