Description
This is a fantastic example of the highly collectable Isaac Walton series by Charles Noke for Royal Doulton: Gallant Fishers trophy vase or planter circa 1910 A twin-handled, flared, bulbous form trophy vase, transfer printed and painted, with double loop handles. The Isaac Walton Ware was introduced in 1905, designed by Charles Noke and based on Isaac Walton's "The Complete Angler ", first published in 1653. The series depicts combinations of fishermen in 17th century dress with various quotations and willow tree borders (being dark green & brown on earlier wares and later ones in light green & brown). This early two handled trophy vase depicts various characters around the outside. The inner rim is inscribed "Friend, who is more welcome to my dish than to my angle was my fish" This piece is signed by Noke and has the relevant special factory back stamp and impressed number C901. The condition is very good. There are three spots around the dark green rim through which the underlying cream is showing - these are not chips and are perfectly smooth to the touch. Dimensions: Height: 11.5cm Diameter of top: 13cm Width (including handles): 15cm Post and packaging are free within the UK. Overseas buyers please e-mail for postage costs and please note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
