Description
This is an 18th Chinese porcelain mug dating from the rule of Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795). It is hand painted with enamels in the famille vert palette. The mug has a large central reserve depicting four figures. There are four smaller reserves with foliate motifs, and a large reserve around the handle decorated with two floral sprays. In between the reserves is gilded and hash patterns. The mug has a simple handle. There is a chip to the inside rim of the mug measuring 5mm wide. There looks to be a similar chip on the rim but it is not a chip, just a lack of pigment. There is a hairline crack running down the side of the mug from the rim, which forks into two further hairline cracks. From the crack there are some losses by the head of one of the figures. It looks as though the white on the feet and on the paper on the table in the reserve may have been overpainted. There is wear to some of the enamel, and significant wear to the gilding. All items come with free shipping throughout the UK. They will be sent using a recorded or signed for service such as Royal Mail's Special Delivery. For other international buyers I have added postage costs to the listings.
