Attractive grain. Good to see original side hoop handles in such fine condition. Slightly different in style due to the recessed panels edged with moulding to the top and front. All veneer and edging is original and complete with just a fine and VERY stable hairline fracture to the veneer on the top. Inlaid Mother of Pearl top centre feature depicting a bird and flowers/fauna. Pierced Mother of Pearl roundels with white metal (often referred to as ‘pewter’) strips all original and complete. The lid closes perfectly square. Original brass hinges and lock. The lock mechanism has been tested and is in fine working condition but the key supplied is for decorative purposes only. The box interior has been neatly relined throughout by a previous owner and features a lightly padded base. All of the material is free of stains and tears. An attractive piece of antique woodenware that displays well and lends itself to a wide range of uses.
