Description
This is an attractive, Georgian style, drum-shaped, silver mustard pot by Henry and Arthur Vander, London, 1920. Retaining its original blue, glass liner, it has all-round pierced decoration with a beaded edge, a shallow plinth base and a scroll handle. The convex lid, with a double engraved line edging, has a crown-shaped thumb-piece. There are no personal engravings and there never have been. The accompanying Old English pattern, silver mustard spoon is by Charles Wilkes, Birmingham, 1919. The hinge works perfectly and the glass liner is also a snug fit, with a shaped recess to accommodate the spoon and a ground pontil. After 100 years, this piece is in very good, antique condition; there are no dents, losses or repairs. The hallmarks on both mustard pot and spoon are all crisp and clear. This is a collectable antique item.
Width of mustard pot including handle: 9cm (3.5 inches) Diameter: 6.7cm (2.6 inches) Height: 6.6cm (2.6 inches) Length of spoon: 10.7cm (4.25 inches) Silver weight: 109 grams Overall weight: 221 grams
