Description
15% OFF PRICE STATED UNTIL 1ST JANUARY The term ‘Tunbridge Ware’ has over the course of the past few years been very frequently used to describe any form of inlay that comprised of tiny pieces of veneer to form an inlay of a geometric pattern or flowers, figures etc. However if used correctly the term should only be used to describe items produced by a group of box English manufacturers that for the most part adopted a particular method of known designs. This particular item is the genuine article…..and it is a particularly fine example in terms of condition. Aside from the relined interior every part is original and complete. Given the colour and patina I would suggest that it has been protected from the fading effects of natural light. Floral pattern to the centre top panel within an outer band of a geometric design. All edges keen, original finely turned wooden knob. Lid closes perfectly square within the base section. A worthy addition to any collection of what is THE most globally collectable style of antique boxes. Highly recommended. Unpacked weight 0.3Kg Please click 'View Dealers Stock' in the 'Contact Details of Seller' box...top left corner of this page to view one of the largest selection of jewellery and writing boxes on the Sellingantiques.co.uk website.
