Description
A fine example of a Georgian Sterling Silver sugar sifter spoon. It is superb quality and has a pierced bowl with gilt interior and a stylised leaf pattern on the inside. The handle has matching engraved floral decoration and a small armorial crest. It measures approximately 7" (18cm) long and the bowl is 2 1/4" (6cm) wide. It weighs approximately 55g. It is hallmarked on the back of the top of the handle. Sadly the hallmark has worn over time but the Georgian head is visible as is the lion's head passant for London. I can make out the outline shape of the date letter and believe it to fall somewhere between circa 1800-1825. It is in excellent condition for its age. There are no damages and it displays beautifully. There are some faint surface scratches and a few light marks but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask. Tracked UK delivery £6, rest of the world £25.
