Description

A superb early Victorian silver christening set consisting of a fork and a spoon in its original fitted box. They are excellent quality pieces with beautiful foliate decoration, ornate casting and two engraved family crests on the back of the handles.
Both pieces are fully hallmarked for John Gilbert, Birmingham, 1853. They weigh approximately 114g in total.
They are in good condition with clear hallmarks. There are no major damages and they display beautifully. There are some faint surface marks but nothing detrimental. They have been lightly cleaned and polished and are ready for use.
The set comes in its original silk and velvet lined box, with fitted sections to hold the cutlery. The box is in good condition and the interior is clean and tidy with a few small scuffs and marks around the outside but nothing detrimental and it displays well.

Box : 8 1/2" / 22cm x 4" / 10cm
