Description

A superb pair of glass finger bowls from the mid Victorian period. These lovely examples have cut and frosted sides, with leaf motifs and polished pontils to the bases. This style of design is often mistakenly confused with later Art Deco glass, but originated in a superb display put together for the Great Exhibition of 1851, the renowned Osler & Co. Other big names followed suit in their production of frosted glass, lasting until around the end of the 19th Century, when it became less popular. A splendid and practical pair of bowls, both decorative and versatile. Dimensions below
