Description
A good example of a Sterling Silver milk or cream jug dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It is an elegant design with a beautifully curved pouring spout and delicate engraved bands of decoration. There is a cartouche on the front engraved with the initials B.L. The jug is good quality, weighing approximately 84g. There is no discernible hallmark, either it has worn or been covered during a repair but it is certainly an English piece and has tested as sterling silver. It is in good condition for its age. There are some faint surface marks, small dinks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. There have been some repairs and it is likely a piece of silver has been put over the cartouche to hide old initials at some point but it still displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
