Description

An authentic, original Victorian-era print advertisement for Cadbury’s Pure Cocoa, dating from late 1888.
Titled "A Refresher", the charming illustration features a classic portrait of a British judge in full legal robes and curled wig, taking a momentary recess to enjoy a steaming cup and saucer of cocoa. The lower section showcases tight, period-correct typography mapping out the health, purity, and stamina benefits of Cadbury's over contemporary competitors. It concludes with a historic "Precaution and Warning" text cautioning consumers against "highly coloured and drugged preparations offered as pure Cocoa."
This piece of British social and advertising history is presented on a black card backing sheet. It makes for an highly original display piece perfect for a home kitchen, dining room, vintage café interior, or a legal professional's office.
